Muttwatch Haiku Analysis Machine™

japanese dreamsThis device analyses your haiku, determining structure, syllable conformity and its Flesch-Kincaid grade-level readability classification. The syllable-counting module is quite young and sometimes makes mistakes. If you believe your haiku has been miscounted, you may report this and help us "teach" the module to make fewer errors.

The Flesch-Kincaid standards were designed to determine the US grade-level readability for greater lengths of text, such as paragraphs, pages and chapters. This test will never reflect accurate results on a submission as short as a haiku. But it is still fun and we needed to have a standard against which this machine could judge submissions. NOTE: Lack of punctuation, nonsense words and extremely short submissions will dramatically skew the Flesch-Kincaid results.

If your submission meets or exceeds our rigourous Muttwatch Haiku Standards you may be invited to proffer it for publication.
