Muttwatch began as a simple way to keep an eye on our pets while we vactioned cross-country early in Summer 2004. The equipment was purchased and the site constructed within about three days time and then we were off!
The site performed better than expected and we spent our week showing this groovy creation off to family and friends. When we returned home we examined the collected photos and decided to make a short movie of the week-long sequence of shots. This movie later became known as "189 Hours In 4 Minutes".
More features were planned for our next vacation and several improvements were made over the next few months. After some planning it was decided to run Muttwatch on a more daily basis. With this increased operation it was inevitable that some outsiders would "discover" the site and we were pleased to make several new aquaintances who were fascinated with our project.
After we had established a more regular schedule we listed Muttwatch with 3 webcam directories and the traffic to our site increased exponentially. After several mentions in popular weblogs (Thanks John Sibley!) our traffic increased again. We now boast 20,000 unique visitors per month with viewers in dozens of countries around the world.
